Getting Started with Time Tracking

Welcome to Timeforce! This guide will help you get started with time tracking and show you how to make the most of our platform.

Why Track Time?

Time tracking isn’t just about billing clients—it’s about understanding how you work. When you track your time, you can:

  • See where your time actually goes instead of where you think it goes
  • Bill clients accurately for every minute of work
  • Identify time wasters and eliminate them
  • Improve your estimates for future projects
  • Increase productivity by being more intentional with your time

Getting Started in 3 Easy Steps

1. Create Your First Project

Projects help you organize your time by client, task, or any other category that makes sense for your work.

To create a project:

  1. Click “Projects” in the navigation
  2. Click “New Project”
  3. Enter a name and set your hourly rate
  4. Save your project

2. Start Tracking Time

There are two ways to track time in Timeforce:

Real-time tracking: Perfect for tracking as you work

  • Click the timer button
  • Select your project
  • Start working
  • Click stop when you’re done

Manual entry: Great for logging time after the fact

  • Click “Add Time Entry”
  • Select the date, project, and duration
  • Add a description of what you worked on
  • Save the entry

3. Review Your Time

Check your tracked time regularly to:

  • Make sure all your work is logged
  • Review your productivity patterns
  • Prepare for invoicing

Pro Tips

Be specific with descriptions: Instead of “Work on project,” write “Designed homepage hero section.” Future you will thank you.

Track breaks: Don’t forget to pause your timer when you take breaks. Accurate time tracking means honest time tracking.

Review weekly: Set aside 10 minutes every Friday to review your week. Look for patterns and opportunities to improve.

Use projects wisely: Create projects for each client or major task. This makes reporting and invoicing much easier.

Next Steps

Now that you know the basics, explore these features:
